PV Basketball

I understand the LPD isn't what it was just 4-5 years ago but for this team to win the LPD is probably the best thing a PV Boys team has done since the 04 Football Team. Lots of people questioned what when on in the PV program a couple years ago with the coaching change, but I think it's clear the right decision was made.

Coach Moore stuck to his guns, demanded that kids do it his way and if not go home. It has worked, he has just won the LPD without some of the most athletic kids in SWVA. The discipline, team unity, and work ethic is great to see. The future is bright for PV Basketball, our first LPD Title in 10 seasons (I'm not counting 04 because splitting it and losing the tiebreak is losing to me). It was also good to see Coach Moore slow Frazier down on the break and have him slow the ball up with the game over, no need to score again and run the score up. Congratulations to the entire program we are moving in the right direction.

I'm sure if he had lost, by sticking to his guns, some would have been downing him and ready to run him off.

In year 2? I highly doubt so, nobody with any sense would run a coach off two years into their tenure. Anybody who doesn't see a major difference in our kids isn't watching us play.

Here's the difference to me...even if it is PV and people call for heads to roll all the time if one doesn't at least compete for the district/win the district--the difference between Moore and a guy like Crockett before him is that Zack is doing it the right way. He's tough, demands the players do it his way, but he coaches fundamentals and how to play the game in a pretty respectful and mostly winning fashion. He coaches the game as well as some of the better coaches in the region, and he's only, what? 25/26 years old? That's amazing in and of itself to me. Had PV people been on here yelling for his head, I would have been one of the first to point out how well he did and the way he did things as a coach.

Not knocking PV--but this year's team that won this district looked to have not near as much talent as any PV team in the past 10 years, but certainly had more sportsmanship (to me) than all of those other teams combined. I think that's as high an accolade as I can give a lot of teams around here, and it's a direct reflection of Zack.
